- Easily identified by longer pile and rubber granules in the surface
- Longer pile (40-60mm).
- Commonly known as 3G pitches.
- Can sometimes include cork granules
- 3G surfaces are ideal for football and rugby
- 4G, 5G & 6G are synthetic grass without the need for infill, these surfaces are still in the early stages of development and are not backed by any governing bodies
